This morning I went to the tire place in Louisburg to have new rear tires put on my car, which was very necessary. The old ones had at least 98K miles on them and were making my teeth chatter while driving at highway speeds. When I pulled out of the garage and onto the highway, I was marvelling at how smooth the ride was…and also how slow it was, I couldn’t accelerate up to highway speeds. Thus began my Early Afternoon of Excruciating Headache-Related Pain.

My transmission won’t shift out of first, or possibly second, gear. I can’t break 35MPH @ 3000 RPM without starting to cook my engine. Getting to Overland Park was fun!
Every garage in the area closes up at 1PM, except for one that closes at 3 and which is booked for the rest of the day. I will see them on Monday morning.
Upon contemplating renting a car, I discovered that my proof of insurance is expired. I never got new cards from my new insurance people in Kansas. They’re closed for the day, I’ll have to call them Monday morning and have them fax proof of insurance…somewhere.
I was planning on doing some extra work this weekend to meet my deadline on Monday. As it stands I will probably not make it to work on Monday, let alone make my deadline.
As soon as I leave the coffee shop where I stopped to let my manager know that I would be late and to submit my timesheet (thank god I had my work laptop with me), I’ll be out of Internet, as I don’t have anything at home and I’m not about to limp back to Overland Park at a ragin’ 35MPH.

And it’s only 1:45!
