Again?!
For the fourth time in my relatively short life, I’ve been summoned for jury duty. I’m not quite sure how big the jury pools are in the counties where I’ve lived; they must be minuscule. Tonight I find out whether my duty has been canceled or not – my previous three were, I’ve never actually served – but I will potentially be showing up at the Johnson County courthouse on Monday.
I’m all for doing my civic duty, and I don’t at all mind being summoned and/or serving, but damn this timing. My team’s coming up against some pretty heady deadlines at work, and if I have to miss work next week (even one day), this translates to working this weekend. Not something I resent a lot, sometimes it has to be done, but it’s putting off socializing. I’m fairly sure the founding fathers wouldn’t have approved of this!
