A whole week off
My last day at my old job was today – around 11:30 I packed up my laptop, said my goodbyes, hiked up my britches, and put on my quittin’ shoes. My new position at Perceptive doesn’t start until June 9th, which gives me a week off in between that I’ll be filling in various and sundry ways.
- Work on my car. Last weekend’s trip to IL (1100 miles total) wasn’t good for it; I need to fix some faulty wiring and determine whether the engine squeal is the serpentine belt or a worn pulley bearing.
- Look for a new car. Good wiring or not, damaged belt or damaged pulley, Dethkar is old and sounding its death knells. I’ll be searching the KC metro for a Mazda3 of some kind.
- Working on shaim. We’re so close to the 0.4 release I can taste it…kinda chalky.
- Spending time with Courtney. Of course
We’re going to a Death Cab for Cutie concert tonight, and we’ve scheduled a play date with her dog Rocky for next Tuesday, as well as whatever other time we may be spending together. That’s the only planned stuff so far. - Cooking. My herbs are growing ridiculously fast. I have more rosemary than I know what to do with, basil shooting every which way, and a healthy growth of cilantro to boot (chives and dill too). So far the only thing I know I want to do for sure is pad thai, which will consume cilantro and basil. I’d like to make gazpatcho too, which also requires cilantro, so I may have to buy some to augment the supply.
- Organizing/cleaning. Both my apartment and my computer could stand some organization and maintenance, and I’ll have plenty of time to accomplish both on both.
- Buying new shirts. Because I should have more shirts in the rotation.
Important Update: Courtney and I are also going on a tour of the Boulevard Brewery on Thursday. Huzzah!

Someone was in IL and didn’t bother to call? Well I guess I know where I stand…
But I guess those who have never made the trip over the mighty missisip to return the favor shouldn’t throw stones.
