I rarely post about work, but this event merits a lookin’ at. Yesterday I put in my two week’s notice at my current software engineering position in Kansas City, and on June 9th I’ll be starting anew as a C++ software engineer with Perceptive Software. The decision to leave the current job’s been stewing for a while, but recently I stepped back and asked myself: “In five years, I want to be in a position where I’m designing and implementing software, and when I call a shot, I want it to happen with a minimum of bureaucratic overhead. Can this be realized?” I don’t think it could here but I think it can at Perceptive, which is smaller and moves more agilely. Let’s see where this goes.
